Unfortunately I had to pay a half month rent at my place in Zamalek, plus full rent for December and a months deposit for my new place - so it was a rather expensive day. However, I'm very very excited about my new place. In many ways the apartment itself is short of ideal, as I will have 2 to 3 roommates at any given time, and once again it demands some serious cleaning.
But here's the good stuff.
- The apartment is about 3 blocks from school - a 10 minute walk.
- It is located at the top corner of the building, the ninth floor, and it has a balcony wrapping the perimeter.
- The kitchen is really big, the shower works, it has cable tv, and fast reliable internet
- I have an american landlord who actually fixes stuff!
- And the best part of all... my room is great! I have a balcony coming off my bedroom, a small desk, and a big window. There is a constant breeze, constant, light, and a very high ceiling. I'm looking forward to buying some plants for the balcony, and already feel that I will have a sufficiently more productive, positive space than my current abode.
Here is a map of where I am now in relation to my old apartment and the university. If you move the mouse over top of the blue markers, it will give a description of the place.
