Well I arrived in Jordan today, in the capital city of Amman. Flying on Royal Jordanian Airlines was quite nice, perhaps one of the nicest planes on which I’ve ever traveled. Jordan is somewhat crazy place because the country is sooooo wealthy. Its really like being in Ohio, except covered with conifers instead of deciduous. Really this place is a complete foil to Egypt. The earth is dark and richly colored, the grass is green, and varieties of cypress trees grow everywhere. Sadly I forgot to bring a camera, so I won't have much for pictures, but I can at least swipe a few off the internet to give you an idea.

I’m staying at the Century Park hotel, which is quite nice but located in the suburbs. There are other grant recipients here from Israel, Jordan, Morocco, Qutar, Egypt, and Tunisia. I didn’t really do much today but mostly relax, as tomorrow will be a very busy day from 8 am to past 10 pm. We have meetings and seminars along with a really fancy dinner with the US Ambassador within a club reserved for the Royal Family.
Well its late now, about 2 am, and I need to go to bed, so I’ll be in touch later.
